Acoustic Guitar

 

Building your own Acoustic Guitar can be a very rewarding and satisfying experience.

Throughout the process you will learn many different aspects of the craft of Instrument building. You will learn the art of wood bending and the process of hand carving a instrument's interior and structural bracing and Sound hole Rosette design and construction.

Students will learn the process and art of Sound board "voicing" (tuning). You will learn how to create and install binding both on the body and a long the fret board,the installation of frets and fretboard radiusing.

The course will cover neck and fret board construction, design, and set up, and basics of inlay design and installation. 

Finally, you will learn correct neck angle setting to allow for perfect string action and playability and intonation.

Each Class runs for approx. 5hrs once per week, with access to the shop outside of class time offered for students who want to work a little more on their projects.

We do not put a completion time on our courses to allow Students to work at their own speed and ability and as their Schedule permits.

Electric Guitar

Beginning with Template design to body and neck construction, to finally choosing the correct finishes and their application, and finishing off with proper set up and Intonation.

Our in depth one on one instructional course will give you the knowledge, confidence and know how to create an instrument that will last for many years to come.

Ukulele

 

If you love the Ukulele as much as we do, well here is your opportunity to get "down and personal" with the little Hawaiian Giant.

 

At West Mountain school of Lutherie we offer one on one instructional building courses on the construction, history and theory of this little Giant,

We offer the traditional one on one Class that offers the Student that personal time required to understand the characteristics of tone wood, the importance of hard wood and the process and basic skills of construction required to build your own unique and exotic Ukulele.

We offer courses in all sizes Ukulele, Soprano, Concert, Tenor & Baritone.

 

Course Cost is $500 and we offer custom payment’s arrangements

 

Bartione Ukulele

 

Our Baritone Ukulele course is a great introduction to anyone who may be interested in learning full size acoustic guitar building, as all techniques and aspects of acoustic guitar building are used in the process (we build our Baritones like little Acoustic Guitars) We also offer instruction in the choosing and correct application of finishes, and complete and comprehensive setup,, and finally, valuable instruction and advice on the future care for your instrument.

 

Course fees cost from $650 and Construction time depends on Instrument design and your schedule….approx. 30-50hrs required.

One Week Intensive Electric Guitar Building Course.

 

Our One week building Course allows the Student to build a bolt on neck Electric Guitar in a week.

Commencing on a Monday at 10am till 5pm for a full 5 days’ students will learn to build a Guitar of their design or choosing.

All the aspects our Electric Guitar building will be covered and you will gain the knowledge and skills required to construct an instrument the will last for many years.
